small space advice.

I’ve found there’s something strangely exciting about the challenge of living in a small space – it forces you to get creative and to truly love or have a purpose for every one of your possessions. While I’ve added some square footage to my living situation in my new loft (photos coming soon, I promise), I still miss my studio like crazy and wanted to share some small space advice I learned while living in less than 500 square feet of space.
- Go Under and Over: Find space wherever you can, whether it’s under the bed or above a cabinet. It’s amazing the amount of stuff you can fit under your bed with a few storage boxes and some creativity – up & under are great spots for off season items that you don’t need to access regularly.
- Think Twice: Think about where you’d put an item before purchasing it. This moment of pause and asking myself, “do I really have room for that?” saved me from countless impulse purchases. Good for both your wallet and your lack of space situation.
- Seek Multipurpose Items: Is that decorative vase also a great place to stash your nail polish collection? How about nightstands with drawers for some extra storage? Items that serve in both form and function are key!
What’s your living situation like? Are you lucky enough to be sprawled out in a spacious place or are you also getting creative with small space living?
